10 Foods That People Think Are Healthy But Are Actually Loaded With Sugar

Uncategorized Apr 25, 2017

You flick on the TV only to be bombarded with a barrage of advertisements for so-called “healthy” choices. Chief among them are these foods which may be promoted as healthy but in reality, are loaded with sugar or raise your blood sugar just as much as sugar.  They keep you stuck in the throes of sugar addiction and blood sugar imbalances. If you’re ready to kick sugar to the curb then start ditching these toxic health foods.

Fruit juice

Juice is terrible because it contains no fibre so even if it’s 100% juice with no added sugar, the reality is that fruit sugar is still sugar. It still causes your blood sugar to spike dramatically and it’s just as addicting and bad for you as pop or kool-aid.

 Dried Fruit

Dried fruit may be okay in moderation, or when eaten with some nuts and seeds for protein. If you know you have diabetes, are insulin resistant or just struggling with energy or extra belly...

The Natural Sweetener That Isn’t Actually Healthy

Uncategorized Apr 17, 2017

I might upset a few people with this post but the truth needs to be spoken. When you start getting healthy and conscious of the type of sugar you’re putting in your body, this pseudo-health food is bound to come up.

It’s a sneaky one because the way it’s branded often makes it seem like a good alternative to plain old sugar, but that’s simply not the case.

Enter… agave syrup. Agave sounds great in theory because it’s derived from the agave cactus, they make it out to be like the maple syrup of the south. Unfortunately, agave syrup has a few major faults that make it best to stay away from.

Agave is closer to HFCS than it is to natural sugar

Agave is promoted a low-glycemic sweetener, which is true, but what it lacks in glucose it makes up for in fructose. Agave is 85% fructose and like high fructose corn syrup causes problems in the human body. Fructose, unlike glucose, overloads the liver and adds...

Nourish Your Everyday - The Spring Reboot Recipe: Experience Mind Revitalization:

Uncategorized Apr 14, 2017
Quote above by Wayne Dyer

The web is full of diet blogs and nutrition advice. There are countless recipes for detoxifying drinks which make use of various natural ingredients that can remove various toxins and harmful molecules from our body resulting in blood cleansing and therefore a healthy body. But only a few people understand the true value of mind detoxification apart from body detoxification. A healthy mind reflects a healthy body. Therefore, a healthy body follows a healthy mind, and a healthy mind follows healthy thoughts.  Therefore, a positive mind is the prime determinant of the overall health. But how to maintain a positive mind in today’s acquisitive world?

I know that this doesn't come naturally for everyone.  I used to describe myself as a realist.  I didn't "candy coat" things or try to see the world through rose colored glasses like some people knew.  I saw them (my husband... LOL) as somewhat delusional.

I remember at the...

Easy low sugar breakfast ideas

Uncategorized Mar 09, 2017

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. For me, it sets the pace for the entire day. A healthy balanced breakfast ensures a high-energy, productive day ahead, free from blood sugar ups and downs and those pesky mid-day slumps.

The most important part of breakfast is to make sure you’re not secretly just loading up on sugar. People eat a bagel and a glass of OJ and think that’s healthy, but that much sugar is a disaster in the making.

A truly healthy breakfast is full of healthy fats and protein as well as plenty of nutrient dense vegetables or a small amount of fruit.

Chia is a great breakfast food as it is full of healthy omega 3's, fiber and protein.  Pair this with sone fruit, hemp seeds and flax and you've got a delicious and nutrition meal to start your day.

Here’s my favorite eggs recipe ever, it’s quick, easy, and oh so good!

Uncategorized Feb 24, 2017

Breaking up with sugar doesn’t have to be devastating. It can be like one of those breakups that’s kind of mutual, that feels necessary and totally OK. It all depends on how you approach it. You can make it hard for yourself, or you can make it easy.

Here are a few of the best ways to reduce sugar cravings and make eliminating sugar a piece of sugar-free cake!

Licorice tea after meals - Naturally sweet, helps balance blood sugar, and it’s great for digestion.

Strength in substitutions - Swap bread with slices of roasted sweet potato (throw them in the toaster for a couple rounds of toasting to make it even simpler), pudding with chia and coconut milk, bananas or high-fiber berries etc.

Eat plenty of protein and fat - If your body’s been running off sugar for awhile you need to give it a new fuel source to draw from. High-quality protein and saturated fats like coconut oil, avocados, MCT oil...
